Abstract
1,227,700. Latches. GENERAL MOTORS CORP. 5 June, 1969 [21 June, 1968], No. 28545/69. Heading E2A. In a lockable latch for vehicle doors, the striker pin 76 is located in the forked bolt 26 by a nylon anti-rattle shoe 66 pivoted at 68 holding the head 74 of the pin against a ramp 58, the shoe being rotated counterclockwise by a flange 80 on the bolt in the unlatching position, Fig. 4, so that its other arm abuts the casing at 62 and so prevents excessive movement of the bolt in the unlatching direction. Thus the bolt and the shoe are in position to receive the pin from a leftward direction. The bolt is pivoted at 24, spring loaded at 52 and restrained by pawl 32 engaging steps 28, 30 in conventional manner. The pawl 32 is pivoted at 36, spring loaded at 38 and its engaging movement is limited by a rubber buffer 46 engaging arm 50.
