Abstract

1,086,305. Latch fastenings. FERRO MANU FACIURING CO. Oct. 14. 1964, No. 41897/ 64. Heading E2A. An automobile door lock comprises latch and keeper units, one of which is mounted on a movable door face and the other of which is mounted on a fixed door frame face, the keeper unit comprising a keeper 20 extending from one of the faces and having an enlarged formation 21, the latch unit comprising a housing 17 extending from the other face and having a wall 96 spaced from and extending parallel to said other face and having wall portions between which the keeper is received and a forked bolt 16 mounted in the housing: to pivot into and out of latching engagement with the keeper, the enlarged keeper formation being in overlapped relation with fork arms 18, 19 of the bolt when the latter is in: the latching position, and being disposed between the bolt and the face from which the housing extends, the bolt then being within and overlapping said housing wall with the fork arms 18, 19 both overlapping one wall portion, whereby separation of the latch and keeper units along the axis of the keeper is opposed at the overlaps of keeper enlargement, bolt and housing wall. In one embodiment. Fig. 2, the forked bolt 16 is pivoted within the housing 17 on the edge of a door and engages a keeper pin 20 mounted on a fixed door frame and having an enlarged head 21.
