Abstract

The morticed casement bolt mechanism uses a lever handle and spindle follower to displace a latch bolt together with sliding transmission rods to bolts at the head and foot of a door. A follower stud pivots a hook shaped pinned link lever to retract the latch bolt, and a radial follower lug engages a window in a link slide to effect rod retraction. The slide moves parallel to the rods, having a further window engaged by the tail of a rocking coupling lever. The nose of the lever engages a rack incorporated on the lower rod, and an idling pinion connects this rack to a counter rack incorporated on the upper rod. A heavy spring-aided slide returns both the latch bolt and the rods to closure, incorporating a stud which contacts a ramped face of the latch link lever.
