[Class 44] A sliding lock-bolt for doors &c. is operable by an arm actuated by an outside handle when connection between the arm and handle is effected by a key. As described, the bolt is locked in shot and retracted position by a tumbler which is released by the arm, and a separate latch bolt is provided normally operable independently by inside and outside handles, the inside handle also operating the lock bolt. The lock-bolt 1, shot by spring 7, is locked by a spring arm 13 having a projection 12 engaging in one or other of two recesses 4, 5 in the bolt, the arm also carrying a cam 14 engaged by a shoulder on a pivoted arm 9 to disengage projection 12. The arm 9 co-operates with a pin 3 on the bolt to effect retraction. Arm 9 has a boss 10 pivotally mounted in axial alignment with an independently mounted spindle 26 carrying the outside handle 25. The boss and spindle have aligned non-circular bores adapted to receive a coupling key, shown separate, Fig. 4, which must be inserted before operation of bolt 1 can be effected by handle 25. The latch-bolt 15 shot by spring 17 is retracted by a follower 18 carried by the spindle 19 of an inside handle 20, the spindle also carrying an arm 21 connected by link 22 with an arm 23 on spindle 26 so that the latch is operable by either handle and is also operated simultaneously with operation of the bolt 1.
