Abstract
444,910. Latches. FOX, H., and MORGAN, C., (trading as FOX, H. & J.), Moat Street, Willenhall, Staffordshire, and CARTWRIGHT & CO., Ltd., R., 17, Fleet Street, Birmingham. Oct. 10, 1934, No. 28961. [Class 44] A mortise latch capable of being deadlocked by a spindle mounted on a rose plate or other plate on the door, has a deadlocking follower on a rotatable boss and a spring adapted to hold the follower in both its dead locking and unlocked positions against fixed parts connected with the opposite side of the latch case. The deadlocking follower a is mounted on one of the two halves of the latch casing and is engaged by a spring u which holds it against either of two fixed projections n, o on the other half of the latch casing. In the position shown it engages a pin k on the latch bolt slide and prevents the latch from being retracted. The boss of the follower has a square hole r adapted to be engaged by a spindle projecting from a knob mounted on a rose plate secured to the face of the door. The latch bolt slide is guided by the projections n, o, the projection n acting as an abutment for the latch spring m.
