Locking sliding latches; lock mechanism, spring-tumbler type. - A key-operated plate spring 19, secured to the spring-pressed latch bolt 3 and carrying a pin 22 which engages a hole 23 in a bushing 5 carried by the plate 1 to secure the latch in the shot position, is provided with a recessed enlargement 20 with which the bit 14 of the key 13 engages to release the spring 19. The key 13, which is passed through slots in the right-angled extension 2 of the plate 1 and in both sides of the casing 7, as well as through the latch, is first rotated to release the spring 19 and then moved bodily downwardly to withdraw the latch against its spring 11.
