Abstract

160,709. Brathuhn, O. July 10, 1920. Lock mechanism, multiple-key.-In a doorlock, the key-operated springless lock-bolt 2 is controlled by a spring- actuated tumbler 7, which is controlled by mechanism operated by a separate key 15. The tumbler 7 is pivoted to the casing, 1 at 6 and holds the bolt 2 in its two positions by the engagement of a stud 8 in slots 9 or 10. Attached to the tumbler is the forked end 14 of a rod 12 sliding in a guide 13. The rod is held in its operative position by the spring- pressed tumbler 18, and has a projection 16 for engagement with the key 15. To shoot the bolt, the key 15 is turned, disengaging the tumbler 18 and pulling down the rod by means of the projection 16, so that the end 14 pulls down the pivoted bolt-tumbler 7 and releases the stud 8 from the notch 9. The bolt can now be shot by turning the key 5. When totally shot, the springs 11, 19 restore the mechanism to its normal position, the stud 8 entering the notch 10. The bolt is withdrawn in the same way.
