Abstract

870,421. Latches. SPORK, E. E. Aug. 5, 1959, No. 26722/59. Class 44. A lock for a sliding door comprises a vertically slidable latch bolt 22 mounted in a housing 15 the two halves of which are integral with two halves 10, 11 of a lock housing. A helical spring 23 urges the latch bolt to its operative position in which the end of the latch bolt 22 extends into a recess 65 in a striker plate 61. An actuating lever 30, to the spindle of which are attached two handles 33, lifts the latch bolt to its inoperative position, the end of the actuating lever co-operating with an aperture 30 in the latch bolt. Locking of the latch bolt is effected either by use of a key from one side of the door or by a flange 46 from the other side, both of these means causing a cam 43 to be rotated to advance a latch 36 such that a latch pin 40 engages a hole 41 in the latch bolt.
