Abstract

726,839. Key-operated bolts. GERMANN, K., and LAMBRECHT, J. Feb. 5. 1953 [Oct. 22, 1952], No. 3296/53. Class 44. In a mortice lock comprising a cylindrical housing 1 and a bolt 3 having a cylindrical guide part the peripheral surface of which adjoins a segmented attachment 4, the latter is provided with notches 13, 14 for a double-bit key 5 serving to shift the bolt in both directions, the width of the key, measured over the two bits, being approximately equal to or approaching in extent the inside diameter of the lock housing, and notches 16, 17, 18, being provided for the engagement of a click spring 19 or tumbler which extends over the key and is also operated by the key bits. In the arrangement shewn a stop 8 secured within the housing co-operates with a recess 9 in the end of the attachment 4. The key may be inserted from either side of the housing.
