[Class 44] A spring-latch bolt is directly retracted by moving a member E projecting through a tubular extension F on the case. The member E is connected to or formed integrally with a plate D which has a projection d<1> engaging a slot a in the bolt, so as to permit the bolt to slide, as the door is shut, without moving the plate D. Alternatively the plate may be secured rigidly to the bolt. The bolt has a recess engaged by the end of a spring c which also acts on the tumbler of a key-actuated bolt c for deadlocking the latch. The slot a in the bolt engages a fixed guide pin b, and the plate D has bent lugs d' engaging the case to prevent the plate from tilting,
