Abstract
426,336. Locks and latches. ACHURCH, G. P., 51, Broad Street, Birmingham. Sept. 28, 1933, No. 26714. [Class 44] A mortice locking latch for doors &c. has a handle follower locked by an auxiliary bolt sliding in the same direction as the latch bolt, this bolt being arranged below the latch-bolt and having an abutment or abutments to engage a face or faces formed on or near the lower edge of the follower and parallel to the direction of movement of the bolt. Two rectangular strips f, f<1> secured to two handle bosses G, G<1> have their meeting faces F on the common axis of the two handles which are secured in position on the door by two finger plates j. The two strips f, f<1> enter a square hole in a castellated bush c clinched to a follower plate C<1>. This plate has a horn C<2>, Fig. 3, engaging the bent end b<3> of a plate B on the latch b. The plate C has abutments c<4>, c<5> adapted to be engaged by projections e, e<1> on a plate E to lock the follower against movement, the plate E being moved by a key and held in either of its two positions by a spring H engaging a projection e<2>.
