Abstract

290,829. Andrews, W. R. May 19, 1927, Keyhole curtains ; hasp fastenings for attache or suit cases have a keyhole cover provided with a stud or projection passing through the keyhole to prevent displacement of the latch-bolt. The lock-plate 11 carries a keyhole block 12 with outer cover 15 having a dovetail engagement, the stud 16 engaging the keyhole 13 and, when depressed, a notch 17<b> in the bolt 17. When the cover is raised, the stud engages an extension 13<a> of the keyhole. The cover has an operating-lip 15a and a friction spring to hold it in position. In an alternative form, the cover slides in dovetail grooves in the block. In a modification, the keyhole is formed in the latch knob, and the cover slides in undercut grooves in the knob itself.
