Latches, sliding ; striking - plates for locks and latches; locks, cases and bolts for; keyhole escutcheons.-The casing P of tubular mortice locks has a chamfered or bevelled edge D<1> of slightly greater diameter than the casing. The striking-plate E has a similar edge E<1>. Both the casing D and plate E are forced home into a hole drilled to receive them easily, and are retained by screws G engaging lune-shaped countersunk recesses D<2> in the outer face of the edge. The bolt B has a central projection B<1> to determine the centre of the hole for the striking-plate. The keyhole plate F carries a disc F' of smaller diameter than the hole A, which is the same size as the hole C tor the casing D., to allow for adjustment.
