Abstract
176,434. Green, N. Nov. 2, 1920. Latches, lift; striking-plates for latches.-Relates to mortise lift-latches of the kind operated by handles on a square spindle passing through a hole A in the latch. A spring C is secured to, or bears against, the latch and also against a tongue F which is preferably roughened or serrated on its lower face and is bent out from the face-plate, leaving a slot in which the latch works. This tongue may itself be adapted to act as the spring. The striking-plate is fixed upon the inner face of the down-jamb, the holes through which the fixing-screws pass being countersunk on both sides so as to render the plate reversible.
