Abstract

260,697. Tonks, W. H., and Sparks, W. Aug. 14, 1925. Latches, swinging.-A fastener for doors, windows, shutters, &c., of a type similar to that described in Specification 168,037, comprises a pivoted latch b which on slamming the door is first raised by the slide a and drops into position, so that previous tampering with the trigger c to drop the latch does not prevent locking by slamming. The bevel a<1> of the slide strikes an advance portion of the striking plate and may constitute an additional latch. The latch is connected to the slide a by a projection b<1> taking into a notch a<2> in the slide. The nose c<1> of the trigger c is depressed by the striking plate to allow the latch b to fall.
