Abstract
451,978. Latches. TONKS, W. H., and SPARKS, W., 201, Moseley Street, Birmingham. May 7, 1935, No. 13410. [Class 44] A sliding latch bolt is withdrawn by levers n actuated by push pieces k sliding in fixed knobs j. A latch head c has a tail piece d movable in a casing let into the edge of the door. A knob is secured to each door face, or to one face only, and the end of the lever n is pivoted to lugs o on a plate m associated with the knob. The push piece k is pivoted to the lever at an intermediate point so that pressure on the push piece withdraws the bolt against a spring e which is arranged between the bolt head and a transverse plate f. The plate d has a keyhole-shaped slot p, Fig. 3, and a rotary member q trunnioned in the casing has a flattened part r over which the slot p can normally slide. The member q has grooves u ongageable by a key to enable the flat part r to be turned through a right angle to lock the latch in its shot position.
