Locks, with bolt interlocking with staple; revolving barrel.-A pair of pivoted members with hook-shaped ends are thrust forward into the staple by a key-operated bolt. which then thrusts them apart to interlock with the staple. The hook-ended members 14 are pivoted at 24 to slides 23 and have additional hooks 17 at their inner ends to engage recesses 18 and shoulders 22 on the sliding bolt 19, which is operated by the follower 13 of the revolving barrel 12. The bolt 19 has a slot 29 sliding over a fixed stump 30, with which the lug 32 of a tumbler 31 pivoted on the bolt co-operates. When the lock is in its inoperative position, the hook-ends 15 of the pivoted members are flush with the face plate 9. To operate the lock the barrel 12 is turned by the key, releasing the tumbler from the stump 30 and shooting the bolt 19 forwards, the end 20 of which first thrusts the members 14, pressed together by springs 27, into the staple, further forward motion of these being prevented by flanges 26 on the slides 23 engaging stops 25. Further forward motion of the bolt presses the members 14 apart, causing their hook ends 15 to interlock with staple 16 and blocking them in this position as shown in Fig. 2. The casing 5 of the barrel is held against rotation by the screw 6, the end of which is concealed by the face plate 9.
