Locks, cases for; trustee locks; multiple bolt fastenings.-A trustee lock is so constructed that when a bolt has been shot by a key to lock a master pinion operating one or a number of door-securing bolts, a second key introduced into the same keyhole can be turned to slide the lock bodily so that the first key cannot be inserted into the keyhole to operate bolt to release the pinion. A door bolt 8 has a rack 9 engaging a pinion 10 which is turned by a handle 14, a tongue 22 on which engages a slot 13 in the pinion. A second rack 19 may be formed on the bolt 8 to operate a vertical rod 18 carrying other pinions to shoot additional bolts, by means of a pinion 20, as shown in Fig. 1. When the bolt or bolts 8 have been shot, a key inserted into the keyhole 17 can be turned to shoot a tumbler-controlled bolt 3 into a notch in the pinion, locking it against turning to release the bolts 8. A second key can then be inserted into the keyhole 17 and on turning it, its bit lifts tumblers 23 from notches in a plate 6 carrying the lock mechanism, and engages recesses 7 in a gateway in the plate 'to slide it bodily on the guide 5 to render the bolt 3 inaccessible from the keyhole 17. The pinion 10 slides out of engagement with the tongue 22 of the handle 14 which can then be turned ineffectively, the bolts 8 moving a short distance in the unlocking direction but still engaging the staples.
