Locking-apparatus.-In a wheel-lock for cycles and other vehicles, wherein a bolt d mounted on the frame is adapted to be engaged between the wheel spokes, a pivoted catch or retaining-piece c is arranged to engage behind the bolt when shot, and its removal from such engaging position necessitates the use of a key. The bolt has an operating-knob d<2>, the shank of which works in a slot a<2> in the casing a<1> during the shooting and withdrawal of the bolt, and. at the ends of its movement, the bolt is turned by the knob so that the shank engages with notches a<3>, a<4>. The free end of the catch has a recess h and the rear of the bolt a shoulder i, and, when the bolt has been shot, the catch depressed through the slot a<2>, and the bolt turned, the shoulder i engages with the recess h. In unlocking the device, the knob is turned into alinement with the slot a<2> and a key then inserted through a hole g in the bolt casing for the purpose of lifting the catch. The key and key-hole may have various shapes.
