Abstract
592,077. Hasp locks. SPEGELSTEIN, E. July 4, 1944, No. 12749. [Class 44] In a lock for attache cases a sheet metal bolt, Fig. 5, forms the rear plate for the lock casing in which are housed a slidable locking- lever 13, Fig. 3, and a bar 19, Fig. 7, for positioning the lever 13 and a spring is secured in the lock casing at the end extreme from the hasp opening and bears upon the bar 19 and drives the bolt into engaging position. The member 13 has lugs 24 adapted to be engaged by the key and notches 21, engaged by V-pieces 20, on the bar 19 which holds the member 13 in locked or unlocked position. In locked position one lug 24 comes to rest behind a stop on the casing, which prevents movement of the bolt by the usual knob, which has lugs passing through an opening in the casing, a slot 11 in the member 13 and holes 12 in the bolt under which they are bent over.
