Abstract

153,807. Reinl, H. Jan. 15, 1920. Fastenings for sliding windows; sliding bolts.-A sash fastening comprises a bolt 14 slidable in a tube 11 mounted in a casing 13 fixed to one sash 6, and a solid keeper 16 fixed to the other sash 5 and provided with a bolt recess 15 spaced at a distance from the sides to prevent tampering. The bolt can be retracted against a spring 19 by a knob 20 on a stem 21 projecting from the bolt through a slot in the tube 11, and the bolt can be held retracted by a pivoted catch 24 in the casing having an aperture 13 to engage a shouldered lug 24' projecting from the bolt through another slot in the tube. A coiled spring 29 having its end fixed to, or engaging a groove in, the catch plate 24 causes this to engage the lug 24<1>, and the catch plate projects through a slot in the casing and can be released by hand.
