Abstract
404,070. Locks and latches. PARKES & SONS, Ltd., J., and PARKES, H. G., Union Works, Willenhall, Staffordshire. Aug. 20, 1932, No. 23390. [Class 44.] A lock or latch bolt B, operated by a key through the intermediary of a pivoted arm H or a runner plate, is arranged so as to slide behind the locking mechanism J and the arm H or runner plate and may be separated therefrom by a dividing plate F mounted in the casing A. The arm H pivoted on a rivet G carries a pin h<2> which passes through a slot in the dividing plate F and engages with a shoulder b<2> on the bolt ; alternatively, the pin may be carried by the bolt. The bolt is pressed forward by a wire spring C and its forward movement is limited by a loose stop D. The locking mechanism J and the arm H may be mounted between a cover plate E and the dividing plate F which are secured to and spaced from one another by rivets G so as to form a separate unit, which may be secured to the casing A by screws m<1> engaging with stumps M and extensions e on the cover plate engaging with recesses a in the casing. The unit may be secured in the casing A by tongues on the dividing plate extending through slots in the casing. The dividing plate may be formed with a hole or a pin to receive the key.
