Abstract
346,818. Vehicle door latches. PARKES, S. R., Pretoria Works, New Road, Willenhall, Staffordshire. Jan. 15, 1930, No. 1450. [Class 44.] A latch for motor vehicle &c. doors in which the bolt e may be withdrawn by an outside handle (not shown) operating a follower f (shown separate, Fig. 3) and by an inside hand-lever b (shown separate, Fig. 1) acting directly on the bolt has a catch g operable by a finger-piece and adapted to engage a shoulder h on the follower, thus preventing operation of the outside handle but leaving the hand-lever b free to operate. Lever b is biased by a spring l which also engages flats on the boss of catch g to retain the catch in either of its two positions. The follower f is biased by a spring n engaging a stud p on the follower, the other end being anchored to a stud r on the back-plate of the lock. Specification 325,704, [Class 44, Fastenings, Lock &c.l, is referred to.
