Abstract

Stud-and-slot fastenings; staples for locks and latchces.-A staple comprising a mushroomshaped head and a constricted neck enters a notch in a lock or latch casing so that the neck is engaged in a narrow part of the notch and the latch or bolt engages a cut-away part of the head to prevent release. The staple is conveniently fixed to the door-post, and when the door or the like is closed, the neck a<1> enters the notch b<1> in the reinforced part b of the casing c and the bolt d, which may be of the sliding type, Fig. 6, or of the pivoted type, Fig. 7, shoots under spring action into the cut-away part a<2> of the head a.
