Abstract

259,321. Marston & Co., Ltd., A., and Bryan, S. P. July 14,1925. Latches, preventing operation of. - A night latch of standard cylinder type is provided with a key-operated locking mechanism, to prevent knob operation, arranged in the space between the knob spindle and the rear end of the casing. The spring-pressed bolt b has a tail-piece e engaged by a knob-operated follower f, and also by a key-operated follower (not shown) mounted on the cover plate in the usual way. The follower f has a projection g adapted to be engaged by a projection and recess p on a sliding locking plate h, to prevent operation by the knob, key-operation of the lock by the other follower not being interfered with. The plate h is held by one or more spring-pressed levers l released by a key inserted through an opening k which is preferably made small so as to be as inconspicuous as possible, and may be concealed by a pivoted or sliding cover-plate.
