Abstract

334,916. Clare, E. W. June 12, 1929. Sliding bolts.-A sliding bolt 1 is locked by a removable and interchangeable blocking member 6 which engages a bolt flange 5. The member 6 may be fitted with a key lock the bolt 7 of which in the shot position of the sliding bolt 1 engages a slot in the, flange 5, and in the withdrawn position engages a slot 2<c> in the casing 2. Alternatively the key lock may be provided in the casing 2. The end faces of the blocking member 6 are inclined so that its removal is prevented if the bolt 7 of the key lock is shot. The sliding bolt 1 is formed of two parts adapted to be screwed together so as to clamp between them the flange 5 which projects beyond the casing and forms the means by which the bolt is withdrawn. In a modification two bolts, each provided with a blocking member, one operated from one side of the door and one from the other, are provided. In a further modification which is shown in Fig. 9, and is suitable for sliding doors, two bolts 1, 8 are provided with a single blocking member. In locking the doors the lower bolt 8 is shot so that a ball 10 engages in a recess 8<b> in the bolt 8, and the upper bolt 1 is then shot over the ball.
