Abstract

Locks, permutation. - In combination locks wherein some but not all of the press-buttons have to be operated, a latch-bar is connected to the lock-bolts so as to free the locking. The press-bolts 6, Fig. 1, have a bevelled edge 36 and are screwed into the buttons 5 having attached caps 8, while springs may be used to retain the press-buttons in the position shown. The lockbolts 11, Fig. 7, also have a bevelled edge, and are screwed into a sleeve 15 carrying a screw 20 engaged by a. latch-bar 19 to withdraw the bolts. The latch 19 is operated by a cam 25 on a spindle 22 which can be operated from one or both sides of the door. The latch may be also operated by an eccentric cam on a spindle 28, Fig. 11, with outside handle 31, an inside handle 35 being provided so that when turned in one direction it will raise the latch, but when turned in the opposite direction it will lock it in position. Alternatively, a separate bolt may be fitted inside to prevent the lifting of the latch.
