Abstract

207,739. Shields, A. T. Feb. 28, 1923. Sliding bolts; fastenings operated by tools.- A window bolt of the type in which the bolt is retained in locking position by a spring and is adapted to be withdrawn by means of a device removably connected to the bolt and held withdrawn by partial rotation of the bolt, has a housing 1 formed with an annulus 4 within its bore and near its outer end. The annulus 4 has a shaped aperture and the shank of the bolt is correspondingly shaped for a portion 5 so that when the bolt is withdrawn by the screwed-on knob 14 and rotated, the end of the portion 5 will engage the marginal edge of the annulus. When the bolt is shot the housing projects well beyond the end of the bolt. A case hardened plate 16 prevents drilling from the outside.
