Abstract
279,712. Arigi, J. April 13, 1927. Latches, sliding; locks and latches, preventing operation of. - In door locks, one lever is used to block both the latch and the lock-bolt tumblers. The latch tumbler 3. Fig. 3, and the stop arm 1<c> are mounted on coaxial spindles each having a handle on the opposite sides of the door. The lever 6 has a pin-and-slot or tongue-and-recess connection with the latch-bolt 4 and has a tooth 6b which engages either the tumblers 9 or the tumbler-spring 8. The stop arm engages either a tail on the latch bolt or the lever 6. To prevent turning the stop arm spindle from the opposite side of the door, the spindle 1, Fig. 2, has a squared portion engaged by a spring 11 which can be depressed into the plane of a circumferential groove on the spindle.
