Abstract

470,235. Locks. OLDHAM, J. L. Feb. 12, 1937, No. 4183. [Class 44] In a lock of the kind comprising a lock bar 6, shot by a key and controlled by one or more tumblers 15 co-operating with a lug 11 on the bar, at least one tumbler 17 has an L-shaped slot, one arm 20 of which is normally in the path of movement of the lug 11, so that if said tumbler is actuated, as by a false key, the arm 21 of the slot will engage the lug and prevent extraction of the bar 6. A catch 23 may be moved by a secondary key into a position to engage the bar in its shot position. The catch may engage behind a shoulder 24 on the bar, and may be controlled by one or more tumblers 31 coacting with a pin 25 on the catch. The bar may be moved into shot position in two steps by two primary keys which engage respectively two notches 12, 13 in the bar. One of the catch tumblers may interlock in the one of the bar tumblers 15 so that the former cannot be moved until the latter has been operated by the primary key.
