Abstract

374,571. Locks. TIBBLES, H. J., Brodsworth, Blenheim Crescent, Leigh-on- Sea, and RELY-A-BELL BURGLAR & FIRE ALARM CO., Ltd., 49A, Wilson Street, Finsbury Square, London. April 15, 1931, No. 11106. [Class 44.] To give greater throw to a mortice lock bolt 5 than is obtainable by direct operation of the bolt by the key bit, and to prevent picking of the lock, the bolt is operated by an arm 8 carried by a key barrel 6 provided with a lateral slot 6a from which the key bit, not shown, projects far enough to co-operate with the lock levers 10. The barrel is yieldingly held with the slot in register with the keyhole 19 by a lever 18 having a projection 17 engaging a flared recess in the periphery of a flange 7 on the barrel. The bolt shown is in two parts, a plate 5a provided with a guide slot 4 co-operating with a fixed stud 3, and plate 5b, overlapping plate 5a, and provided with an enlarged portion 5c forming the bolt head. A pin 13 secured to plate 5a extends through plate 5b into engagement with the usual slots 12 in levers 10. In addition, the lever 10 adjacent to the back-plate 2 has a lateral projection having locking engagement with one or other of two recesses 14 in the top edge of member 5b.
