Abstract

Night - latches; latches, sliding; keys; locks, revolving-barrel. -A square-ended bolt is held retracted bv a catch released when the door is slammed, and is released from inside by a handle which is provided with locking means, and from outside by a key. The bolt 2 is normally held retracted by a catch 4 pivoted on the slam-bolt 6 so that when the door is closed, the bolt 6 is pushed inwards, releasing the catch 4 from the rib 3 on the bottom of the bolt and allowing the bolt to be shot by its spring 12. Release is effected from inside by turning the spindle 8 by a handle, when the follower 9 acts on the arm 11 of the bolt. When the bolt is shot, the follower 9 is turned forwards by the spring 14 to the position shown in dotted lines in Fig. 2. In the position it can be ]ocked against movement by pushing the plunger 28 forward by the square end 31 of the key 32 inserted into the hollow 30 of the plunger and turning it till cross pins 33 in it engage a projection on the housing 27 to hold the plunger in engagement over the follower. Release from outside is effected by the key 32 inserted into the barrel IS and operating tumblers 19, the follower 23 of the barrel engaging an arm 16 pivoted at one end 15 to the holt and loosely embracing the barrel 18 with its other end.
