Catches, spring; striking- plates for latches. - A pivoted latch a for doors is locked by a pivoted arm e acted on by a spring g, which allows the arm e to be moved to unlocking position by the latch as the door is closed should the arm assume a locking position before the door is closed. The arm mav be operated by a key from outside and bv a thumb piece from inside. When used on sliding doors the latch has a hook-shaped end b engaging a projection d. Trigger mechanism as described in Specification 168,037 may be used to hold the latch in an intermediate position, and at the point of co-operation of the trigger with the arm undercut surfaces may be provided, whereby the trigger cannot be depressed unless the arm is depressed at substantially the same time. The striking plate may be provided with a projection to depress the arm in advance of the trigger.
