Abstract

368,454. Door &c. latches. HARRISON, A. A., 31, Westbourne Road, Penarth, Glamorgan. Jan. 12, 1931, No. 988. [Class 44.] Door and like latches 1 are provided on the upper edge with serrations 7 with which the end of a pawl 8 pivoted at 10 on the security plate 2 above the latch is adapted to engage to prevent operation of the latter from the outside. The pawl 8 is provided with a knob 11, with which it may be moved into the position, shown in dotted lines in the Figure, in which it does not interfere with the normal working of the latch. The catch 4 of the catch plate 5 is made deeper than usual in order to allow the pawl 8 to engage in the serrations 7 even if the door or jamb has sagged.
