[Class 44] An automatic catch has a plunger c sliding in a case a screwed to the jamb at b, and bevelled at its bottom end c<1>, so that when the door is slammed it rises and then drops by gravity or spring pressure in front of a plate d fixed to the door. Turning the handle f raises a lever e which lifts the plunger, thus releasing the door. A turn button h or any key operated mechanism acts as a lock by holding down the lever e, or the plunger c. The door may be released by electromagnetic or other means.
