Abstract

371,842. Night-latches. HORWOOD, C. H., 144, Bathurst Gardens, Kensal Rise, London. Jan. 27, 1931, No. 2627. [Class 44.] A mortice night-latch with a tubular casing comprises a bifurcated bolt 7 which can be retracted by a key-operated revolving barrel 18 or by a knob-operated follower 38. To prevent operation of the latch by the key the knob is pushed in so that the follower 38 engages a radial slot 41 in member 14. To prevent operation by the knob the barrel 18 is rotated in an anticlockwise direction until the cylinder pins 29 engage a row of pins 19a and the bolt is blocked by the barrel follower 24. The bolthead may be dome shape for use with swing doors.
