Abstract

963,796. Door knobs. WALTER ROWLEY Ltd. May 22, 1963 [June 1, 1962], No. 21162/62. Heading A4U. [Also in Division E2] In a door handle mounting, wherein handles 13, 19 and roses 10, 18 are mounted on opposite sides of a door 11 so that the handles 13, 19 may be rotated integrally with a non-circular spindle 14, there is provided a plate 15 adapted for connection to the door 11 and to a rose 18 and in which plate 15 the spindle 14 is rotatable, and a locking washer 17 adapted to grip the spindle 14 to prevent axial movement thereof. The washer 17 seats in a recess 15a in the plate 15 and has four inwardly directed spring tongues 17a engaging the square section spindle 14. Plate 15 and washers 17 may be applied on both sides of the door 11, in which cases both handles 13, 19 are separate from the spindle 14.
