A rose plate 10 of the kind which is provided with holes 16 for screws or bolts for securing the rose plate to a door and which provides a bearing for a knob or handle, has a forwardly projecting bush 11 made of or sleeved in nylon or other resilient compressible material and is provided with a finishing plate 15 having a circular opening of a diameter slightly less than the external diameter of the bush, the arrangement being such that the finishing plate can be forced on to the bearing bush which serves to grip the edge defining the opening in the finishing plate to maintain the latter in its rose plate covering position. As shown, the bush is fitted with a channel-section nylon ring 14 over which the finishing plate is forced and which also provides the bearing for a spigot 12 of a lever handle 13. The rose plate is recessed for a loading spring 17 and a stop plate 18.
