Abstract

1,185,859. Attaching door handles to roseplates. R. CARTWRIGHT & CO. Ltd. 30 Oct., 1968 [14 Nov., 1967], No. 51652/67. Heading E2A. A door handle mounting assembly comprises a body 10 having an aperture 15 in which is detachably located with a snap action an insert 21 which is rotatable relative to the body and is adapted to be connected to, for rotation with, a door handle spindle 31 the body and insert being provided with abutments 17, 18 and 27, 28 which cooperate to limit, relative rotation of the insert and the body, and the body housing a spring 29 which acts on the insert to urge the insert towards a normal position relative to the body in which the door handle 30 is in its inoperative position. As shown, in which the body and insert are formed from a plastics material, the abutments 17, 18 in the body are located in an annular recess 16 defined by two walls 13, 14 and the abutments 27, 28 in the insert are arranged to lie, one in the longer portion 20 of the recess defined by the abutments 17, 18 and one in the shorter portion 18 of the recess with the spring 29 located in the portion 20 between one abutment 17 and one abutment 28. The handle spindle 31 is formed with flats 32 for engagement with a complementarily shaped opening in the insert and a cover or decorative trim 36.
