Abstract

904,970. Door handles. COOKE & SON Ltd., T. J. June 27, 1961 [July 9, 1960], No. 24026/60. Addition to 840,813. Class 44. The handle of the parent Specification is modified in that the shank 13 of the lever arm has a single radially-extending projection 15 which exerts pressure upon the coiled compression spring 17 in its tubular housing 18, the housing being capable of being fitted in either one of two alternative positions on the mounting-plate 10 and the mounting-plate having two abutments 16, 16 which are located on opposite sides of the pivotal axis of the shaft so that the projection 15 is pressed by the spring against either one or the other of the abutments 16 depending upon the position of the housing when the chamber is in the normal horizontal position, right hand or left hand, depending upon the type of door with which it is used. As shown, the housing 18 is supported upon one or the other of a pair of lugs 21 through a ball 20 which projects out of the housing and seats in a recess in the lug.
