Abstract

606,078. Locks for travel cases and the like. NOTON, Ltd., S., JERVIS, J., and POLTURAK, L. G. Jan. 10, 1946, No. 890. [Class 44] A cylindrical housing 1 is secured to the body wall 6 of the case and a catch bar 26 secured to the lid 29 has a hook 25 which on pressure, passes over and is held by the flange-like part 24 of a catch member 21 located within the housing 1, the flange 24 being cam-shaped and the member 21 being capable of axial movement against spring 22. The hook 25 is released by axial movement of a lock barrel 10, brought about by means of a push-button 11, when the barrel is in a position determined by pin 9 thereon, being in registration with an axial slot in the housing 1. The button 11 is provided with an aperture 14 through which a key is inserted into a key-hole 15 in the barrel 10 to turn this latter to positions when pin 9 moving in a semicircumferential slot in the housing 1 is in or out of alignment with the axial slot..The axial movement of button 11 is limited by projections 12 on the button engaging with slots 13 formed on the inner walls of the housing 1.
