Abstract

818,988. Strap fasteners. WRIGHT, T., CHARNOCK, S. T., and ALMET DESIGNS Ltd. Dec. 3, 1956 [Dec. 7, 1955], No. 35112/55. Class 44 A sliding latch lock comprises two T- shaped plates 10, 12 slotted at 26, 27 for connection to bands, straps, &c., the plate 12 being an aperture 29, constituting the latch, the plate 10 carrying a locking member 24 and having its narrower end turned up to form an end wall having a slot 15, through which the latch can pass to ride over the locking member 24, a flat spring 16 between member 24 and plate 10 presses the member 24 into aperture 29 in the latch to lock the latch to the plate 10, and a manually operated button 21 being depressed to act on the locking member 24 against spring 16 to release member 24 from the latch. The turned-up end of plate 10 forms a pocket 14 in which rests one end of a strip 11 from which is pressed out the member 24, the other end being urged by spring 16, riveted to strip 11, against two claws 17, 18 bent out from a tongue 19 which in turn is pressed out of the plate 10. A stop 23 on tongue 19 limits the downward movement of the button 21 the stem of which is secured to strip 11 and engages in a recess 28 in plate 12 in the lock position. A housing 31 riveted to plate 10 encloses the strip 11, projection 19 and stem of button 21.
