642,019. Hasp locks. SPEGELSTEIN, E. April 14, 1948, No. 10422. [Class 44] A lock of the kind used on attache cases &c. comprises a sheet metal bolt 18. Fig. 10, slidably mounted in a box-like case 1 and a member 11 transversely moveable by a key into and out of a position in which it blocks the path of a projection 23 pressed out of the bolt. The member 11, Fig: 5, has a pair of lugs 12 slidably projecting through a slot in the case for engagement on the other side by the key turning in the operating knob. A tooth 13. engages in one of two retaining notches in a pawl 14, Fig. 10, loaded - by a spring 16 which also, by pressing on : a pressed out part 17, serves to project the bolt to the latching. position in which a tongue 20 engages a hasp passed'through the opening 6 in the casing. Two wings 22 co-operate with a lug 5 pressed up from the casing to guide the bolt. The operating knob is secured by lugs 26 to the bolt and has a key hole corresponding with the hole 28 in the bolt. The pawl 14 is located by the projection 23 at one end and a side wall of the bolt at the other. The members 11 and 14 may be stamped out of blank spaces of the bolt 18 to save material.
