Abstract

612,739. Locks. BEDDOES, Ltd., J. G., and PADMORE, J. L. May 31, 1946, No. 16530. [Class 44] In a hasp lock for attache cases or the like, of the kind comprising a hand and spring- operated plate-like slidable bolt 2 working in a shallow casing formed by front and back plates 5 and 1, and a key and spring-operated bolt blocking member G disposed to operate within an aperture or gap in the bolt plate, the blocking member 6 is a flat plate which always slides with the bolt, and for key operation slides independently of the bolt to co-operate with a fixed stump or peg 1b on the casing, a spring 7 being disposed within the gap to operate between the member 6 and an edge of the gap in the bolt, and separate springs 3 being provided to operate between the bolt and the casing. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the blocking member 6 rotates in the gap in the bolt plate 2 when operated by a key which, turning on the key peg 1a, engages a notch 6a, and the lug 6b engages the stop peg 1b. The blade spring 7 engages notches 2d in the gap. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the blocking member 6 slides laterally in the gap when operated by the key, and engages a stop peg 1b to prevent movement of the bolt plate.
