Abstract

1,163,536. Buckles. KANGOL HELMETS Ltd. 19 Dec., 1966 [20 Dec., 1965], No. 53848/65. Heading E2A. A two part quick release buckle has the closure effected by inserting a tongue member 1 into a buckle member whereupon a pivoted flat plate 21 in the latter is depressed against the action of a spring 40 and when the tongue member is fully inserted the plate springs back and a latching edge 29 thereon engages with a corresponding latching edge 4 on the tongue member and closure is maintained until the plate is again depressed, by pressing a press button 36, to disengage the latching edges, the plate being arranged to pivot about a pivot which seats in holes 11, 12 in the body of the buckle member. The spring 40 has spring fingers 44, 45 which project through a slot 27 in the plate 21 and act on the end of the tongue member to eject it from the buckle member when it has been released therefrom. The press button 36 rests on projections 25 and 26 upstanding from the plate 21, and extends into a slot 35 in a cover 30. The cover 30 has side channels the ends of which engage the outwardly turned spring ends of ears 9, 10 of a flat base 7. A frame member 50, with a sliding bar for adjustably retaining one end of a strap the other end of which is connected to the tongue member, is secured to the pin 58.
