Abstract
861,033. Sliding latches; spring clips. FINANZIARIA TAURINENSE S.p.A. Dec. 19, 1958 [Dec. 28, 1957], No. 41052/58. Class 44. A lock device for a glove compartment, not shown, of a motor vehicle comprises a spring-loaded plug 7 which is slidably mounted in a hollow body 3 attachable to the lid of the compartment, the plug 7 having a tooth 8 extending through an aperture 3a in the body 3 for engagement with an abutment in the compartment, and a keyoperable cylindrical barrel 12 rotatably mounted in the plug 7 and provided with an eccentric boss 13. This boss 13 is adapted to engage a projection 14 on the body 3, when the barrel 12 is in a first angular position, to prevent movement of the plug 7, the latter movement being allowed when the barrel 12 is in a second angular position, Fig. 4, in which the boss 13 disengages the projection 14. The plug 7 is provided with an extension 7a for manual movement thereof, and a resilient forked plate, Figs. 1 and 3 (not shown), straddles the body 3, the limbs of the plate projecting through slits in the side walls of the body 3 to engage grooves in the side walls of the plug 7 for location of the latter; the forked plate also serves to attach the body 3 to the compartment lid by being disposed on the inside of the lid resiliently to hold a flange 4 on the body 3 against the outside of the lid.
