Abstract

The petrol tank cap (1) has a housing at the rear for a barrel lock (3) which protrudes to form a shoulder. A washer (11) fits over this, and has two diametrically opposite lugs (12), and a bridging piece (7) is held in position by a coil spring (13) and a C-shaped circlip (6) fitting in a grove (5). The bridging piece is U-shaped, with the end of its legs turned inwards to form lips (10). The legs are recessed (9) on their inner faces to accommodate the shouldered washer. In the open position, the key turns the washer and bridging piece assembly away from each other. When the cap is locked, the bridging piece and cap washer are engaged.
