Abstract

1411377 Locks MAGNATEX Ltd 6 Dec 1972 [6 Dec 1971] 56628/71 Heading E2A In a steering column lock in which the lock cylinder 3 drives a cam 10 acting on a follower 23 to raise bolt 21 against spring 24, the lock cylinder slides axially into the lock as the key 8 is inserted, and is then held in by ball(s) 6 (until the key is withdrawn) with the result that a spring-loaded projection 27 on the follower rests on rim 3a of the cylinder. Hence, even when the cylinder is returned to the 'OFF' position, the bolt 21 cannot descend until the key is withdrawn allowing the cylinder and its rim to move outwardly, clear of .the projection 27.
