Abstract

1517021 Vehicle lock L & F WILLENHALL Ltd 19 Feb 1976 [19 Feb 1975] 6916/75 Heading E2A A vehicle steering lock comprises a control sleeve 21, slidably but non-rotatably mounted in body 10 and housing key barrel 13, which is formed in two parts 22 and 23 and has a face 29 co-operating with cam face 28 on the key barrel so that rotation of the key barrel and actuation of the key detecting element 42, causes axial movement of the sleeve against spring 27. The sleeve further houses a retaining element 30 for the bolt 11, the retaining element which is sprung loaded by spring 31 serves to hold the bolt 11 in the unlocked position (Fig. 2) only. The bolt 11 is moved by cam 16 attached to the rotatable key barrel 13. The retaining element 30 will not release the bolt 11 to its locking position (Fig. 1) until the key has been removed the barrel 13 which allows release of the key detecting element 42 and return of the sleeve 21 under action of spring 27 to its first position (Fig. 1). The sleeve is held in its second position (Fig. 2) by sprung loaded pin 34 operating into groove 35. Electrical switching may be incorporated in the lock.
