Abstract
618,766. Cylinder locks. BOYCE, F., and PARDOE, J. March 30, 1945, No. 8126. [Class 44] In a pin tumbler cylinder lock, the cylinder and lock case are provided with interengaging elements effective on a partial rotation of the cylinder to prevent relative axial movement of the cylinder, means being provided to prevent rotation of the cylinder when in operative position. Preferably a non-circular, flange 4, Fig. 3, is provided on the inner end of the cylinder 1, spaced by a groove 3 from a peripheral shoulder, flats 5 being formed on the flange 4. In the casing 8, Fig. 2, is formed an opening corresponding to the shape of the flange 4, so that when the flange is passed through the opening and the cylinder turned through 45‹, the latter is retained. To prevent rotation, a tongue 10 formed on a channel element 13 is entered in a slot in the cylinder. Other means for securing the cylinder are described, including a screwed pin engaging a recess in the cylinder.
